Gregory Fanning
Greg was born and raised, with my brother, in a sports household in Bergen County, New Jersey 45 minutes outside of New York City. At the age of 5, I was introduced to the game of soccer and after a short period of playing baseball and soccer collectively, I realized that my true ability and passion was in the game of soccer. Subsequently throughout many years of hard work, dedication and great coaches, for 9 years I anchored the defense as starting left or right halfback for the Wyckoff Town Soccer Team up to Freshman year of High School. Each of my coaches taught me a new and distinctive manner in which to play the position that resulted in my abilities growing to becoming a shut down defensive force on the field. In 1987, I had the honor of playing for a team which won the Northwest Bergen County Division V Youth Soccer Championship. My soccer career took a hiatus upon entering high school where I followed in my brother’s footsteps of being on the high school track and field team for 3 years eventually being introduced to weight lifting and the art of bodybuilding, a passion which has only grown and become a staple in my life since 1997.
Today, I call North Utica home with my wife and daughter. I presently represent home buyers and sellers as a Real Estate Salesperson for Berkshire Hathaway CNY Realty in Utica, NY. My passion for the game of soccer has been rekindled with my daughter playing for the Krajisnik FC organization as starting defensive halfback. I have spent several years coaching the youth soccer players on our U8 Co-ed Lightning, U10 Girls Lightning and U12 Girls Turbo teams. During the market shutdown of 2020, I obtained my USA Soccer coaching certifications for U8, U10 and U12 levels and you can see me walking the sidelines with Coach Anel and Coach Mike both at practice and at games or tournaments.
Every coach throughout my life via soccer, baseball, track & field, weight training and bodybuilding has pushed me beyond my comfort zone and my perspective of my own capabilities and perceived limits. Each one has left a profound mark on my life and have helped mold me into the person I am today. I strive to instill these traits in the players that take the field every practice and in every game and tournament we compete in. Discipline, development, focus, respect and determination to be the best has brought much success to my life and I can only hope that passing those same traits down to the players within our league will shape their futures for ultimate success in whatever each person wishes to achieve in life.
